この度は、２０２３年度夏の参加者とボランティアの方々を募集させていただきます。今年の夏は主に「バディープログラム」というものを計画しています。バディープログラムとは参加者の方とボランティアの方がバディーになり、一緒に楽しく学びを深めていくプログラムです。
参加者として応募していただいた方一人につき一人のボランティアをつけ、中学生や高校生が家庭教師になりマンツーマンでサポートする形になっております。夏の間も夏休みの宿題や本の読み聞かせなど様々な面でお力添えになれることかと思います。
ボランティアとして応募していただいた方は一人から二人のバディーのサポートをお願いすることになります。一人のバディーの方につき二週間に一回の４０分授業をオンライン上 (Zoom) で行っていただくことになります。今年のプログラム日程は7月15日〜8月12日を予定しています。参加者、ボランティアともになるべく負担がかからないように授業の時間は参加者の親御さんと相談していただくことになります。なお、一回の４０分授業につき授業の準備時間を含めた１時間が公式なボランティア時間として使用可能になります。

We hope everyone is having a great start to summer!
We wanted to provide an update about volunteer opportunities in our program and our plans for this 2023 summer. This year, we are mainly planning to run a “Buddy Program” in which a participant and volunteer will become buddies and have fun learning over the summer.
For every participant we will have a middle school or high school volunteer paired as a buddy to have one on one sessions of learning support. Volunteers can help provide educational support for students in many ways including help with summer homework (English, Japanese, Math, Social Studies, etc), reading books in English and/or Japanese, and conversing with students in English/Japanese.
For every volunteer we will assign one to two participants, meeting once every other week for 40 minutes. Every meeting will be online via Zoom for each participant. This year the program will run from July 15th - August 12th.To maintain flexibility in these meetings, the volunteers will be able to communicate with parents to set a meeting time that works for both parties. Every 40 minute meeting with the anticipated 20 minute prep time will total in 1 hour of official volunteer time for each session.
